4 Factors to Consider When Choosing Casement Windows

Casement windows are one of the most versatile styles. Not only is it the most energy-efficient operable window style, it’s also easy to operate, it lets a lot of daylight and fresh air in, and it works with any architectural style.

4 Factors to Consider When Choosing Casement Windows

Let us share with you these factors when buying casement windows.

Insulated sash and frame – Almost every window company offers an insulated window frame. Hollow frames filled with an insulative material are common, but they need to be of a certain thickness to support windows with large glass areas, like casement windows. Our casement window frames are made with our exclusive Fibrex® material, a composite made of wood fibers and polymer. Its inherent insulation allows us to build slimmer frames without compromising insulation.

Dual-panel insulated glass – The key to adding insulation to glass, a naturally conductive material, is having a vacuum-sealed space between two glass panels. Our High-Performance™ Low-E4® glass options are designed with this in mind by preventing thermal transfer through air molecules. This results in warmer indoors during winter and cooler indoors during summer, which then results in savings from the reduced indoor heating and cooling requirements.

Low-E coatings – Low-emissivity (Low-E) coatings are spectrally selective coatings that filter invisible spectra like UV and infrared rays, which fades fabrics and heats up your indoors, respectively. All our replacement windows are available with our own multi-layered Low-E4 coating options that block up to 95% of UV rays and up to 72% of infrared rays while admitting visible light, just like clear glass.

Quality hardware – Every operable window needs quality hardware; after all, people use windows daily. Casement windows, in particular, need a reliable crank system, which usually would be the first thing to break on less-than-reliable casement windows. Our casement windows feature top-of-the-line hardware that ensure years of smooth and problem-free operation. It is also available in our standard white, canvas, and stone finishes, plus Estate™ metallic hardware options.
