Ever since we perfected Fibrex® in 1992, we knew it was 200% stronger than vinyl. In 2015, through our very first long-term durability study, science has finally validated our claim. It has proven that Fibrex can stand the test of time, delivering exceptional performance and resilience.
In today’s post, Renewal by Andersen® of Kansas City wants to share the most noteworthy takeaways from the study:
Our Windows Are Impervious to Extreme Climates
For our study, we removed 10 perfectly good double-hung windows from one of our first customers in Minnesota. We conducted testing using the American Society for Testing and Materials’ (ASTM) standards to quantify Fibrex’s condition. The results were excellent: after 20 years of brutal winters and muggy summers, Fibrex has been scientifically proven to stay structurally sound for decades.
Fibrex owes its incredible strength to its wood fiber component. Same as pine, it expands and contracts little with extreme temperature changes.
Our Windows Are as Easy to Operate as The Day They Were Installed
Like our custom doors, our Fibrex-made windows deliver effortless operation for many years. Thanks to complementary components, we’ve solved the balance issues of old double-hung units. The balance is the mechanism that allows the raised sash stay up. In the past, balance failure was common, causing sash windows to slam shut and serve as hazards.
Our study attested that jerkiness is no longer a concern with our windows. It has shown that many things can change in 20 years, but not the way our units smoothly operate.
Our Windows Are Proof Against Peeling, Chipping and Cracking
Fibrex is a worthy home improvement investment because it eliminates periodic painting. It keeps your long-term maintenance costs low, while windows remain beautiful and weathertight with minimal upkeep.
Our patented manufacturing process makes this possible. It allows the wood fiber and polymer molecules to bind successfully and form a new compound. As a result, Fibrex boasts remarkable moisture repellence and superior rigidity and stability. This is why it’s warranted not to flake, rust, peel, blister, pit, corrode, rot or crack for years to come. Our study revealed that Fibrex is certainly as good as advertised.
