Our Commitment to the Environment: Partners and Affiliations

The famous adage “tell me who your friends are and I tell you who you are” is not only applicable to people but also for organizations. At Renewal by Andersen of Kansas City, the leading home improvement contractor in the area, we have remained true to our commitment to adopt sustainable and greener options for home improvement through the help of other respected organizations in the industry.

Partners and Affiliations

Here are some of our partners and affiliations:

ENERGY STAR®

Established by the EPA in 1992, ENERGY STAR aims to reduce energy usage and pollution by promoting energy-efficient products and properties. Most people are familiar with ENERGY STAR from its blue seal placed as a label for energy-saving products. We take pride in being ENERGY STAR-certified, being awarded the 2017 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year for Sustained Excellence. Our efforts in continuing to expand energy-efficient products, develop educational marketing materials, and reduce energy use has been recognized by the premier organization of energy conservation.

National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC)

Wondering what those white labels on the windows are all about? Those labels with a bunch of figures are actually performance ratings in terms of solar heat gain, air leakage, and heat transfer measured by the NFRC.

The NFRC is a non-profit organization established as a response to the energy crisis of the 1970s. As an industry-recognized certifying body for windows, NFRC performs the tests on home building products in terms of energy efficiency. Tests are performed on the entire product, not just on the glass or frame. All of our windows meet the criteria set by the NFRC.

Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)

We have also been recognized as a partner in some initiatives by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), an organization established on December 2, 1970 for environmental protection. One of those initiatives is the National Environment Performance Task of which we are a charter member. Such recognition inspires us to do more in our community involvement activities toward protecting the environment.

Another is EPA’s national pilot program called Project XL that promotes cost-effective ways to attain health and environment protection. To participate in this program, we promote a reduction in Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) on production volume basis.

Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED)

As a program that seeks and promotes environment-friendly building solutions, LEED has certified Renewal by Andersen on meeting the requirements of three key areas: energy efficiency, materials and resource conservation, and indoor environmental quality. This is a testament to the quality of our products, such as doors and windows.

Alliance to Save Energy

We are also proud to be part of this unique organization that promotes energy efficiency. We work with members of the Congress and corporate executives to develop legal solutions for greater sustainability.
