It’s here, that time of the year plenty of people get excited about—the holidays! Some find it stressful, some fulfilling. Whichever turf you’re on, here are seven safety tips to remember for a happier holiday season:
Tip 1. Nowhere Left to Look but Up
How is your roof doing with all the snow this season? Take time to stand in front of your house and study your roof from where you are. If you notice there’s too much snow that your gutters are already sagging, call for expert help. It’s not advisable to fix the damaged gutters yourself.
Tip 2. Hang In there!
Hanging decorations on your roof is a very unsafe thing to do on your own, especially during winter. Make sure you ask somebody to help you out. You can also opt to decorate your awning windows in Independence MO instead. Just be careful not to scratch or damage them.
Tip 3. Rhyme with Time
As they say, timing is everything. We recommend using a timer for your outdoor lights so you won’t have to worry in case you forget to turn them off.
Tip 4. Shine Bright Like a Diamond
Lights. Lights. Lights. They are a delight during the holidays. Carefully check for any frayed cords, broken bulb holders, or loose connections. When changing lightbulbs, unplug from the power source first and be sure to use replacements whose voltage and wattage match the original bulb.
Tip 5. You Only Link Once
DO NOT connect more than one extension cord together. Use a single cord that is long enough to reach the outlet and be careful not to entangle them.
Tip 6. Shining, Shimmering Mess
Be careful of slip-ups and fire hazards. Hang your indoor and outdoor lights properly.
Tip 7. Jaunt, Don’t Flaunt
If you are planning to go on an out-of-town trip, don’t advertise your plans online or to anyone you barely know. Airports are a mess during the holidays because of the number of travelers. Everyone’s traveling—except the burglars, that is. Do your part in staying safe while away.
